As many Windows Phone fans in the United States probably know by now, both T-Mobile and AT&T will launch the Microsoft Lumia 640. However, AT&T will also release its bigger sibling, the Lumia 640 XL.

According to WinSuperSite, a conversation with a Microsoft rep during a sponsored event revealed that both Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL would be available at AT&T this month (June).

Although the exact release date of the smartphones hasn't been unveiled yet, it appears that the Lumia 640 might be launched as early as this week and it will be available for a price in the low-to-mid $100 (€89) range.

On the other hand, Microsoft Lumia 640 XL will go on sale at AT&T by the end of June for $100 more than its smaller Lumia 640 sibling.

Keep in mind that these prices are for the unlocked versions of Microsoft Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL, so they will be cheaper on various contracts.

Both Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL will ship with Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 right out of the box. They will also come with similar specs with a few exceptions, such as display, camera and battery.

Both are packed with similar CPUs and amount of memory

The first one to arrive at AT&T, Lumia 640 sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

The Lumia 640 XL packs a much larger 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with the same HD (720p) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

On the back, the Lumia 640 features a 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 1-megapixel camera.

The XL model has a slightly better 13-megapixel camera on the back, which features Carl Zeiss optics and full HD (1080p) video recording. The smarpthone also comes with a 5-megapixel camera on the front.

On the inside, both Lumia smartphones are equipped with 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU, 1GB RAM, and 8GB of internal memory.

Last but not least, Lumia 640 is powered by a 2,500 mAh battery, whereas the Lumia 640 XL includes a much better 3,000 mAh battery.
