New report claims that the Denim rollout is close

The release of Lumia Denim is imminent, and despite the complete lack of details regarding the official launch date, there are so many rumors pointing to the first devices that could get the update that it’s really hard to decide which ones to believe and which not.

Now a new report coming from France reveals that Microsoft is actually planning to roll out the Lumia update for the most popular models in its phone lineup and only then make it available for the rest of the phones.

This plan pretty much makes sense, especially because the company wants to bring Denim on as many as devices as possible in the shortest time, but it remains to be seen if this information is indeed real. We contacted Microsoft for a word on this, but haven’t yet received an answer.

Four Windows Phones to get Denim this month

Microsoft previously announced that Lumia Denim would be made available in the fourth quarter of the year, and although no details were available at first, information coming from sources close to development plans revealed that flagships were among the first devices to get the update.

Now this new report reveals that a total of four different Windows Phone models are likely to get the Denim treatment this month, and the list includes devices that are very popular and have sold in really big numbers, as well as the company’s existing flagships.

Lumia 520, Lumia 625, Lumia 930, and Lumia 1520 are all expected to be updated in the next couple of weeks, the report says.

Both the Lumia 930 and the 1520 were previously tipped for a December update as well, so today’s information does make sense in this regard.

More phones to follow in January

After Microsoft completes the update rollout for the aforementioned devices, the company can start concentrating on the other models out there, so many are likely to follow in January.

As a result, expect Lumia 530, Lumia 635, Lumia 920, Lumia 925, and Lumia 1020 to get the same Denim pack of improvements in January, according to this report.

Obviously, these are nothing more than approximate dates, as the rollout also depends on carriers and regions, so some devices could actually get the new firmware version even later. One thing is for sure though: the aforementioned flagships and the best-selling Windows Phone model Nokia 520 will be among the first to get the new update, most likely in the next few weeks.
