The handset might become official in September this year

Although it needed some time before launching Windows Phone devices that sported hardware on par with that of high-end Android handsets out there, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia appears set to catch up fast.

Back in October, the vendor launched its first 6-inch handset, in the form of Nokia Lumia 1520, and it seems that a successor for this device is already being prepared.

Supposedly set to become official in September this year, the smartphone is expected to hit shelves as the Nokia Lumia 1525, which means that it will sport many of the features that its predecessors did.

In fact, info coming from @NextLeaks suggests that the upcoming device will pack a 6-inch touchscreen display, but that it will be able to deliver a 2k resolution.

The specifications list of this mobile phone is also said to include 3GB of RAM, as well as a 3400mAh battery, which could be chargeable by a solar display.

This device's camera will also be an improvement over Lumia 1520, it seems, as the phone might feature a 25/30-megapixel sensor.

Nokia Lumia 1525 is also said to land on the market with 32GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot that would allow users to expand the storage, and with a Snapdragon 805 processor from Qualcomm.

All in all, these features appear very attractive, though some inconsistencies seem to have slipped there, as PhoneArena points out.

First of all, there’s the fact that Windows Phone 8 supports only screen resolutions of up to 1080p, which means that an update for the platform is also being prepared.

The first devices powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor were previously confirmed to arrive on shelves only in May this year, which suggests that Nokia might indeed release the upcoming phone with this CPU inside, should the rumor pan out.

We’ll take the info above with a grain of salt for the time being, though there’s also a chance that things will pan out, so keep an eye on this space for additional details on the matter.
