Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia officially confirmed the availability of the Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone in the UK.

The handset, made official back in July with a 41-megapixel camera on the back, will land on shelves in the country on September 25, the company announced on Twitter.

Before that, however, users will be able to pre-order the smartphone, as the reservations for it were opened today.

In fact, some wireless carriers in the country have already started taking pre-orders for the device, including Three UK, which has it priced at £69 ($109 / €82) on a £34 ($54 / €40) monthly plan. Users buying it on Pay As You Go deals will have to pay £549.99 ($869 / €654) for it.

The Lumia 1020 arrives at Three in Black and Yellow with 32GB of internal memory, but a 64GB variant of the smartphone will also be released in the UK, exclusively on O2 (Telefonica), as Tom Warren notes in a recent tweet.

Other carriers in the UK will also add the phone to their offerings, and users will be able to purchase it through independent retailers as well. In fact, users can also register for updates on its release on Nokia UK’s website.

Nokia Lumia 1020 was announced with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display and with a 1.5GHz processor inside, the same as the Lumia 920 family of devices before it. However, the new smartphone comes with 2GB of RAM inside, twice the amount of its predecessors.

On the back, it sports said 41MP PureView camera with Optical Image Stabilization, complemented by a front camera for making video calls.

Nokia also packed the new Windows Phone 8 smartphone with the usual set of connectivity options, such as WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, and LTE, as well as with a GPS receiver.

Nokia Lumia 1020 also offers a variety of pre-loaded Nokia applications and enables users to download more of them through the official Windows Phone Store.
