The Star Wars Series 2 from mimoco

Star Wars is one of the most successful franchises of all times, the number of products related to the Sci-Fi story released over time being absolutely huge. However, one very particular family of Star Wars-branded products is represented by the USB Flash Drives from mimoco, which mimic (to some rather weird and twisted extent) the external appearance of famous characters from the series. And after the four initial characters have enjoyed an overwhelming level of success, the company's coming out with a second release, designed to complete the cast and including 4 new characters.

The new characters are eagerly awaited by the series' fans and complete the cast line-up (at least as far as Episodes IV, V and VI go). Thus, among the new models, we'll find a gun-wielding princess Leia, Luke Skywalker (as a fighter pilot, not a Jedi Knight), a rather Elvis-looking Han Solo and the evil mercenary Boba Fet. Moreover, as in the case of the first series, the models from Series 2 will come preloaded with bonus removable Star Wars mimobot content like trailers, soundbites, avatars and wallpapers, due to the exclusive deal between mimoco and Lucasfilm.

Much like all the other models from mimoco's Star Wars' series, the four new USB flash drives are available in 1, 2 and 4 GB versions (a little something for every market segment) and connect to a host computer via an USB 2.0 interface (thus being able to achieve data transfer rates of up to 480 Mbps). Furthermore, they will occupy relatively little space around the user's "starship", as they measure just around 6.03 cm in height.

According to the company, the Star Wars mimobot Series 2 will arrive in late January/early February 2008, but since these things have always been best-sellers, it's quite a good idea to pre-order them as fast as possible. And those who want to complete their collection with the new models can do so for $40 (the 1 GB version), $70 (the 2 GB version) and $110 (the 4 GB model), which are some pretty high prices per GB, but I guess they're worthy of it, especially since the drives will come in relatively limited numbers.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
