Fans have grown accustomed to hearing rappers talk in highly appreciative terms of their own person but, as of now, perhaps few could actually make a claim for the title of world’s best rapper ever. As far as Ludacris is concerned, he shouldn’t even bother to voice this belief, because there is no longer any doubt as to the fact that he really deserves that title, as the Chicago Tribune can confirm.

Ludacris, real name Chris Bridges, is now doubling as a highly successful actor as well, but that’s not to say that he is not fully aware of his importance on the hip-hop scene. As the aforementioned publication also explains, Ludacris sees himself as the equivalent in music of Floyd Mayweather Jr. in boxing, which is why he even asked him to appear on his latest track, “Undisputable.” Two heavyweights on the same song is something that should send out the message that Ludacris is a force to be reckoned with on the music stage, the star seems to say.

“Rap is real competitive just the same way boxing is.” Ludacris said in a recent interview, as quoted by the Chicago Tribune. “We always talk about taking other rappers out. That being said, I feel like I’m the best rapper. I wanted to get the best boxer in the game [for the song]. That’s why it’s called ‘Undisputed’.” the rapper further says. As of now, no other rapper has stepped up to challenge Ludacris for the title of world’s best rapper.

Apparent lack of modesty aside, this is one musician who did not have it easy in showbiz, especially once he made the decision to transition to film as well. For a very long time, the rapper was just another singer who thought acting was as easy as starring in music videos, and was therefore limited only to parts that did nothing for him in terms of growth and learning to perfect himself. No longer typecast as the smart street thug, Ludacris is now happy to take on more challenging roles, having finally proven his worth to the fans and the critics alike.

“It’s always cool to play something totally unexpected and out of the norm. Those are the type of roles I go for. Anything that stretches the limitations.” Ludacris says in the same interview. As for putting music aside for a while to focus solely on his film career, that will not happen anytime soon. “Not in the near future. But I’m sure I won’t be rapping when I’m 50-years old.” the rapper added.
