Lucy Lawless, the star of the iconic TV show “Xena, Warrior Princess,” is bringing her own brand of butt-kicking awesomeness to “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” season 2, it has been confirmed. If Lucy is forever Xena for you too, I bet you’re jumping for joy right now.

TV Guide has confirmed the news but, for the time being, that’s all we’ve got until an official, more elaborate announcement from the network. Details on the role are being kept well under wraps (“in true Marvel fashion,” the e-zine notes), including on whether it will be a full story arc or a mere cameo, or featuring.

However, no need to despair just yet: “S.H.I.E.L.D.” showrunners Maurissa Tancharoen and Joss Whedon, the latter being also the writer and director for the first “Avengers” movie and the upcoming “Age of Ultron,” will be at Comic-Con in San Diego this week.

The “S.H.I.E.L.D.” panel will be in Ballroom 20 on Friday, July 25, 2014, at 3 o’clock, and there are a lot of rumors making the rounds that Lucy’s upcoming role will be detailed then.

For true Marvel fans, Comic-Con will also bring more details about “Age of Ultron,” dropping in theaters in May 2015 (perhaps a trailer too) and maybe some clarifications about the changes Marvel has made in the comic book series for some of its most popular superheroes, like Thor, Captain America and Iron Man.

If you don’t know what that’s all about, suffice it to say that, this fall, Marvel will premiere new series with a female Thor, a black Captain America (Sam Wilson aka Falcon) and an Iron Man with a brand-new, all-white, Apple-inspired suit and a much more elaborate taste for wickedness.
