Christopher Kaelin is just an occasional lottery player, but he should consider buying lottery tickets more often, as it seems that luck is on his side. Against all odds, the Chicago resident won the lottery not once, but three times in three weeks.

The lucky man told Illinois lottery officials that he never expected to win, but he did it three times and netted a total of $276,000 (€199,500).

He bought his first winning Crossword instant ticket at Gateway Newsstand on Clark Street in Chicago during his lunch break. He scratched it off and was surprised to realize that he had won $25,000 (€18,000).

“My fiancé and I were so thrilled that I won $25,000 [€18,000], we went out for dinner to celebrate,” Kaelin said. “When we stopped at a gas station afterwards, I decided to buy another Crossword instant ticket and won $1,000 [€722]!”

But Kaelin's winning spree didn't stop there, as the following week he stopped at the same store where he had purchased the first winning ticket and bought another one. The third scratch-off ticket proved to be the best of all, as it brought him the highest prize – $250,000 (€180,000).

According to Huffington Post, the 31-year-old man initially thought he had won $25,000 (€18,000) again, but while he was on his way to claim the prize, he realized he had read the sum incorrectly.

When asked how he plans to use the winnings, Kaelin said he wants to buy a house, pay for his wedding, pay off student loans, and save for his daughter’s college fund.
