14 DAY TRIAL // Unveiled back in August 2014, the sequel to Lucius horror adventure game will be launched next month. Developer Shiver Games has just announced that Lucius II: The Prophecy will be released on Steam on Friday 13, February 2015.
The game will be available for purchase on Steam for $19.99 / €19.99, and developers confirmed that other platforms and distributors would be announced gradually over the upcoming months.
The release date was specifically chosen by developers in the hopes of a good omen that will drive sales of the game up. It remains to be seen whether or not the Friday 13 will indeed be a good omen for Lucius II: The Prophecy, sales-wise.
The sequel to Lucius is presented as a “3D splatter-adventure sandbox” where players take on the roles of the evil protagonist with the same name (Lucius), the son of the devil, and wreak havoc on everyone standing in their way.
According to Shiver Games, the gameplay in Lucius II: The Prophecy has been greatly improved to add freedom. In addition, a lot more twisted opportunities for sinning and devastation have been implemented, so players will now have more variation at their disposal.
Each level in the game will be its sandbox
Story-wise, the sequel will start from where the first game in the series left off, so this time around Lucius will be taken to the psychiatric ward of St. Benedict’s Hospital after being the only survivor of the fire that took down his parents’ home.
The game features over 100 potential victims and the possibility to explore a large 5-storey hospital and the small town of Ludlow. There will be references to horror movies, but you will have to recognize them on your own.
Players will also be able to create their own main character by choosing which supernatural abilities to learn. Devs also confirmed that in each level players will be able to decide when, how and who to kill, as well as create unique traps by using a complex combination system and tools.
