An iconic item of clothing, a famous dress worn by TV legend Lucille Ball, has been sold at auction.

Auctioneers sold off Ball's landmark polka-dot dress, NewsMax reported. The item was used in the hit TV series "I Love Lucy" and it was bought for $168k(€126k).

The show was on from 1951 to 1957, but it's still a crowd favorite now, with reruns still on air.

The item was purchased at the Profiles in History auction on July 30. It is part of a collection of Lucille Ball memorabilia and costumes being auctioned off lately.

Several other items were sold over the weekend during the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival in Jamestown, New York. Some of them belonged to husband, fellow actor and co-star Desi Arnaz.

The collection includes dresses, other costumes and props from Lucy's other appearances in shows such as the 1974 musical "Mame."
