LucidLogix seems to have done it again, as a certain software solution it developed, known as Virtu, has now been adopted by Intel and is set to be integrated into various desktop motherboards.

LucidLogix originally made a name for itself by creating an SoC that allowed one to set up multi-GPU setups with both AMD and NVIDIA cards.

More recently, it stirred quite some waves on the consumer market by using its expertise on the software front.

What it did was actually come up with a tool that could perform similarly to the NVIDIA Optimus technology, only for any GPU.

Known as Virtu, the software automatically switches between a CPU's integrated graphics and the discrete GPU based on application requirement.

Seeing the benefits in it, Intel has now been revealed, in a press release, to have chosen to integrate the Virtu GPU virtualization software in some of its solutions.

“The Lucid Virtu software along with 2nd generation Intel Core processor features like Intel Quick Sync enables an all-inclusive media platform,” said Michelle Johnston, General Manager of Channel Platform and Solutions Division for Intel.

“Together, they will allow the channel to provide a new class of computing experience for media and gaming enthusiasts around the world.”

Media and gaming systems are the type of computers that will most benefit from this development. The chipsets that will get Virtu are H67 and Z68.

“Intel is the world leader in CPU technology and a globally trusted brand, therefore their choice of the Virtu solution is a testament to the quality performance and integration of the technology,” said Offir Remez, president and founder of LucidLogix.

“The best thing about this collaboration is that the end user is the real winner. Intel H67 and Z68 desktop board owners will enjoy both a media and a high end graphics platform that is more powerful than ever seen before.”
