KOTOR is to be announced

LucasArts and BioWare have sent out an invitation regarding a joint press conference that they would hold on October 21. The press conference will take place at the San Francisco offices of LucasArts and all important gaming news outlets have been invited to attend.

The invitation quickly turns on the hype by proclaiming that “The wait is over” and announces an event where “the official unveiling of the game that's been rumored about for years” will take place, although the name of the game and setting are not mentioned. The overall look of the invitation is very sci fi like, with robots and hooded figures in the background.

Most of us see the event as the official coming out party of the Star Wars themed MMO that rumors have indicated BioWare was developing using a LucasArts license. Basically, John Riccitiello, the president of Electronic Arts, which now owns BioWare, spilled the beans regarding the title when he said that it was a Knight of the Old Republic MMO he described as “quite possibly the most anticipated game, full stop, for the industry”.

The announcement could still be an interesting affair. The development seems to have begun quite a while ago at the BioWare Austin studio and the two companies will probably want to show off some of the results of their collaboration. Screenshots could be presented, detailing the look of the game, which is expected to be close to that of Knights of the Old Republic 2, and we might even see a trailer with some in game footage. It would also be nice if we were to get a tentative release date from the news conference, but that's probably to much to ask at this stage.

Expect the fans of the Star Wars universe to quickly scrutinize every bit of information released and launch pro or against opinions regarding the KOTOR MMO.
