Disney has confirmed that the LucasArts video game development studio has been shut down as the company will live on under a licensing model.

LucasArts was one of the most popular video game developers back in the 1990s and early 2000s, publishing great adventure games from designers like Tim Schafer or Ron Gilbert, and even plenty of high quality Star Wars titles, like the Battlefront ones.

Now, after Disney's acquisition of LucasFilm last year, it seems that the company has decided to shut down the development side of LucasArts, laying off all those who worked on ongoing titles like Star Wars 1313.

The company will live on under a licensing model, presumably only to sell video game licenses like Star Wars to other publishers or developers.

As of yet, it's unclear what will happen with Star Wars 1313, according to GameInformer.
