CPUs always ship with their own coolers, but it might still help to change said cooler, even for people that don't have a fortune to spend on such whims.

Prolimatech normally bothers only with the high-end market, at least as far as its Megahalems series is concerned.

Now, though, a new model has appeared, one intended for those seeking a more cost-effective solution.

Called Megahalems Basic-81 (81 is the fin number), it has six nickel-plated copper heatpipes, a price of $32 / 32 Euro, versus the normal $70 / 70 Euro.

Even at that price, the cooler base still has a mirror finish, although the aluminum fin stacks are replaced by stainless steel ones.

In addition to the Basic-81, Prolimatech has created the Megahalems Basic-45 ($14 / 14 Euro), with aluminum fins 945 in number) and four 6mm copper heatpipes.

The last cooler set to appear, the Basic-48, has 58 aluminum fins but three nickel-plated copper heatpipes.
