Normally, the cooler series caters to enthusiasts, but an exception has been made
CPUs always ship with their own coolers, but it might still help to change said cooler, even for people that don't have a fortune to spend on such whims.Prolimatech normally bothers only with the high-end market, at least as far as its Megahalems series is concerned.
Now, though, a new model has appeared, one intended for those seeking a more cost-effective solution.
Called Megahalems Basic-81 (81 is the fin number), it has six nickel-plated copper heatpipes, a price of $32 / 32 Euro, versus the normal $70 / 70 Euro.
Even at that price, the cooler base still has a mirror finish, although the aluminum fin stacks are replaced by stainless steel ones.
In addition to the Basic-81, Prolimatech has created the Megahalems Basic-45 ($14 / 14 Euro), with aluminum fins 945 in number) and four 6mm copper heatpipes.
The last cooler set to appear, the Basic-48, has 58 aluminum fins but three nickel-plated copper heatpipes.
