The depression in Assumption Parish is constantly growing

It takes about 30 seconds for a line of large trees to be swallowed by a sinkhole in the video posted above.

The footage was captured in Assumption Parish, Louisiana, the Mirror informs. The tall, leafy trees disappear as one is watching the clip, and it does not appear as though the footage has been sped up.

The depression was formed in August of 2012, but there had been no incidents until a sudden rise was noted recently.

According to Office of Emergency Preparedness director, John Boudreaux, the sinkhole is getting larger but residents in the area are not in danger of losing their homes at this point.

The wooded area has a limestone base and heavy rains have prompted the formation of the hole in the ground.
