A single mom from California just made a mistake that turned her into a very rich woman literally over night.

Thuan Le, an immigrant from Vietnam, lives in Santa Ana, California with her four sons. She took home a SuperLotto Plus jackpot worth no less than $14 million (€10.7 million), without ever intending to buy the ticket.

She wanted to get $5 (€3.8) worth of tickets, as she did every week, but instead she placed $6 (€4.6) into the machine.

She decided to use the extra credit to acquire an additional SuperLotto Plus ticket, and it was the best decision she ever made.

“Le and a friend usually go together and buy their Lottery tickets at the same time, but yesterday, Le went by herself to purchase her usual $4 (€3) worth of POWERBALL® and $1 in SuperLotto Plus from her local CVS Pharmacy.

“She accidentally put $6 (€4.6) in the self-service terminal and bought her tickets. When she realized she still had $1 (€0.76) in credit, she thought, “I might as well get another SuperLotto Plus ticket.” That 6th ticket was the winner,” California Lottery officials said in a release.

Not only was Le surprised when finding out she had won, she actually left the store screaming. When she told her sons about the fortunate buy, they didn't believe her at first.

“When she returned with them and they all matched, Le rushed over to check for herself. Shortly after that is when she left screaming.

“We thought she was joking,” her son explained, “but we thought would she really joke like this? My older brother said, ‘yes, she would,’” the Lottery press release reads.

The ticket, acquired at the Santa Margarita Parkway CVS facility in Mission Viejo, Orange County will be earning the pharmacy another $70,000 (€53,500) as the seller.
