Lost Planet 3, the next installment in Capcom's long-running shooter series, has just received a concrete release date of June 25, in North America, and June 28, in Europe, not to mention a brand new video.

Lost Planet titles have delivered some pretty interesting experiences but didn't exactly resonate with mainstream gamers.

With Lost Planet 3, Capcom has shifted development duties to Spark Unlimited and turned the title into a more traditional story-focused third-person shooter that takes place before the events of the first two titles.

Now, after a period of silence, Capcom and Spark have revealed that Lost Planet 3 is going to appear in North America on June 25 and in Europe on June 28.

The two companies have also posted a special trailer with Lost Planet 3, showing off the protagonist, Jim Peyton, and the adventures that await him on the alien planet of EDN III as he searchers for an energy supply called T-Eng.

Check out the video's description below, via Capcom's community page.

"During one of these missions, Jim comes under attack from E.D.N. III’s indigenous Akrid, causing his Utility Rig to fall down an icy fissure, leaving him unconscious and injured. Jim wakes to find himself in what appears to be a secret base, hidden beneath the planet’s frozen surface."

"On discovering he was rescued by one of the base’s inhabitants, Mira, the daughter of Snow Pirate leader, So’ichi, Jim realizes that NEVEC are not the only human inhabitants of E.D.N. III. Will the Snow Pirates welcome NEVEC or will Jim have to face yet another hostile force on E.D.N. III?"

Lost Planet will come out at the end of June on platforms like the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Expect to hear much more about the new third-person shooter as we get closer to the start of summer.
