Lost in Blue follows the relationship of the hero and the heroine who are trapped on a mysterious deserted island after a disastrous incident at sea. The young hero of the game awakens to find himself on a seemingly uninhabited island. After meeting another survivor, a 17-year old girl who has also drifted ashore, the two must cooperate to survive.
While planning their escape, the two will learn survival skills, such as hunting, searching for food and building tools while uncovering the island's many mysteries. In their quest to survive, players will use completely original gameplay concepts including many innovative mini-games throughout their adventures. Highlighting these innovations is the ability to close the lid of the DS while cooking food - resembling closing the lid to a pot - for a designated period of time in order to ensure that the food is cooked to perfection. Close the lid too long and the food will be burned, while opening the lid too quickly will result in an undercooked dinner.
Lost in Blue's gameplay uses most features of the DS handheld console. In the fire building sequence, the player must alternate pressing the L and R buttons in order to build enough friction on the wood, and then blow into the microphone of the DS to successfully ignite the fire. The touch screen interface is used for navigating menus, and the island can be explored by using either the touch screen or the standard control buttons. The game has not one, but several endings such as Escape via Skye's Lifeboat, Escape via The Radio, Escape via Cargo Crates, Escape via The Boat and, of course, the Universal Ending.
GLITCHES
Two traps for the price of one
Use this trick to get both the fish trap and small trap without wasting items. After obtaining the necessary materials (basket and twig), make a small trap. Place it at either of the areas used to drink from the river. Place it near the middle. Go onto the grass and walk towards it, and do not stop before pressing A. As soon as the thought bubble saying small trap appears, press A. You should be using the fish trap. If you want to use it as a small trap, go up to it, press A, and use it normally.
Duplicating traps
Make the selected trap of your choice (large trap or small trap). When you are ready to place it, select your inventory and quickly press A. You will see Keith bend over and check the ground. Then, select the trap and "use" it. Keith will bend over and you will hear the "picking up" sound. When you look in your inventory, the trap will be in the last slot. Leave the area and return. If done correctly, there should be a trap.
