As in the first game in this series, Lost in Blue 2 requires that players survive on a tropical island on which they were shipwrecked. As always, finding food and weapons and exploring the island is essential for their survival, since anything on the island can be used to their benefit. Also, like in real life, players need to watch out so they don't get dehydrated, or too tired from all the walking around the pretty big island. This environment is quite varied, and it also features mountains, which the player can climb in order to find new types of food and drinks, though they need to be very careful, as any mistake will cost them their virtual life.
The pair, a boy and a girl, is faced with quite a lot of tasks that need to be completed, and in order to do that the players need to use the touch screen of the Nintendo DS, as it plays an important role in the game. A lot of items in Lost in Blue 2 can be collected by the player, who uses the stylus of the handheld console in order to complete simple carpentry, food preparation or exploration tasks. Each character also has some very interesting individual skills that need to be taken into account upon starting the game.
Players can, if they want to, fight wild animals that are encountered while exploring the island, and thus procure better food and other resources. Natural calamities, such as hurricanes or earthquakes, also make their appearance on the tropical island, and they offer players new surprises and challenges.

Getting items
Repeatedly press A outside and you will get spices every time. If you want to get salt or shells you must go to the beach.
The ruins: Hidden area
If you look closely on the walls of the ruins, you will notice what appear to be old-style fire pits. Light these with your torch. The wall will open up and you will gain access to a new room. One way will be a new exit to the swamplands. Two openings will lead you to rooms that have huge pedestals that must be lit with your torch. You must do these in the order as they appear one after another. They will lead you all over the island.
