Star says a lean body is achievable with eating right

Ever since on the hit show “Saved by the Bell,” Mario Lopez has been in top shape. In fact, the star has maintained his toned figure so wonderfully he can even write a book about it – which he did. Called “Extra Lean,” the book aims to show dieters how to lose 14 pounds in as many days by simply changing the way they eat and not even coming near a gym, Lopez says in an interview with PopEater.

For starters, the star emphasizes that his is not a diet book for the simple reason that he’d never write one because diets don’t work, it’s a fact. His is a book about eating right, eating in such a way that the body gets all the right nutrients while also being able to burn all the calories and drop the extra pounds. The only exercise those who buy his book have to do is learning when to stop and push away from the table and their meal. In other words, portion control is necessary.

“It’s the next step to a healthier, fitter America. I want to help America eat better and teach the basics of nutrition, help them embrace food and change their bodies and lives forever. In the book, I stress having the proper balance of carbs, protein and fat in every meal, [while] eating frequently throughout the day and learning portion control. I have over 40 recipes in the book and all the meals are tasty because if people don’t like the food, they’re not going to stick with the plan,” Mario tells PopEater.

Aside from educating people on how to build a healthy relationship with food, the star also dishes out advice on which foods are to be avoided and which, on the contrary, should be embraced. “Processed food like frozen dinners. Try to avoid those. But for the most part, you can have the mac ‘n’ cheese and pizza. I have recipes for those in my book. You just have to be a little more disciplined about eating them a little at a time. It’s worth sacrificing portions for taste,” the star says.

In the same interview, Mario also explains how he’s already divided the Extra staff into two teams, both following the guidelines in his book. The team who loses the most weight with his diet plan gets one big cheat dinner at Eva Longoria’s restaurant, Beso.
