Not at all surprisingly, the truck is dubbed Shockwave

If you think the Batmobile is the coolest car ever, and are dead set on sticking to this opinion, you might want to let the news that a man named Neal Darnell currently owns a lorry that packs three jet engines, pass you by.

However, if you feel that you can handle the thought of Batman's car weeping in the corner of a garage, too embarrassed to ever again show its face in public, then go on reading.

Metro tells us that Neal Darnell's lorry, dubbed Shockwave, weighs about four tonnes. Despite its impressive size, it can cover 400 meters (0.25 miles) in just 6.5 seconds.

Thus, the vehicle is equipped with three Pratt & Whitney J34-48 engines that used to be fitted on US Navy jets, and that generate 36,000 horsepower.

Granted, these engines burn about 180 gallons (680 liters) of fuel per drive, but Neal Darnell says that it is well worth it.

According to the same source, the four-wheeler has virtually no trouble reaching a speed of about 400 miles per hour (roughly 643 kilometers per hour).

What's more, it holds the record for the world's fastest full-size truck at 605 kilometers per hour (376 miles per hour).

“On acceleration, the driver experiences about 6G. We stop it by using two 40cm ring slot military parachutes, which produce an impact of up to negative 9G. It is some ride,” explains Chris, Neal Darnell's son.

The lorry is about 30 years old and has been with the Darnell since 2012.
