Video game publisher Electronic Arts announces that it plans to shut down its free-to-play and browser-based title Lords of Ultima on May 12.

The company says that players will not be able to register new accounts or get any of the in-game currency, but there are currently no plans to offer refunds on previous purchases.

The official announcement on the forums states, “The race to be the final Lords will continue however until the closing date so if you’re already on your way to the end game, you still have your chance to become one of Caledonia’s final victors. Will you end your time in Caledonia as a proud Lord or an honourable warrior fighting until the end?”

The studio that created Lords of Ultima, Phenomic, has been shut down more than six months ago and a small team has continued offering support for the title.

The game was widely seen as lacking quality or appeal even for long-term fans of the Ultima franchise.
