Developer Snowblind Studios and publisher Warner Bros. Entertainment have announced that their upcoming action fantasy title The Lord of the Ring: War in the North is getting a Collector's Edition although the two companies are not yet saying exactly when in the fall the title is launched.

Those who are willing to pay the 129.99 dollars suggested retail price for the newly announced package will be getting quite a few extra goodies for their trouble:

- the Ranger of the North Quiver Case – the developers are not saying whether this is a purely cosmetic item or has some unique bonuses; - exclusive digital content – the exact nature of this was not detailed; - an exclusive theme pack for the game on the PlayStation 3 – includes icons, fonts, wallpaper for the PS3 and more; - an Avatar for those who pick the Xbox 360 version of the game – comes complete with a Ranger armor set, a helmet, a bow and quiver; - Inside Look: The Music of War in the North – offers footage of the recording process at the Abbey Road studios, interview with the composer Inon Zur, the E3 2011 concert and three tracks from the soundtrack; - a concept art book – includes an exclusive look at the key characters, the enemies and the environments that players will explore.

There are also a number of bonuses linked to the various retailers that will carry “The Lord of the Rings: War in the North” in North America.

Amazon.com will deliver early access to the comic book based on the game and will allow players to play around with the Orc Champion sword.

Best Buy delivers a Elf Theme pack for the gamer and access to a new map called Lothlórien Challenge map.

Buying the game from GameStop gives access to exclusive human equipment and allows for the exploration of the Citadel of the Stars and the Tower of Stone.

Other bonuses include: exclusive tracks at Target; a signed poster from Toys'RUs, a Dwarf-based content in Wal Mart.
