The development team at Turbine announces that it has plans to eliminate all abandoned player houses in its MMO The Lord of the Rings Online starting with game update 11. This will unclutter the MMO’s world and will allow players to find new spaces for buildings next to their friends.

The team writes on an official blog that, “With Update 11, if you own a home that has been locked for more than 180 days you will be issued a final foreclosure warning. At that point you’ll have 60 days to get your finances in order and pay down the upkeep or your home will be foreclosed and put back on the market.”

Apparently, there are plans to shorten the grace period after Lord of the Rings Online gets access to an expansion in the fall.

Turbine is eager to make sure that organic communities develop inside its MMO and allow players to experience the social aspect of the game.
