Middle-earth will be available to Russians, too

The MMO based on the beloved movie/book series has taken Europe and North America by storm and it's not planning to stop. Lord of the Rings Online now plans to take a trip to Russia, since Turbine and IT Territory have signed a deal for the distribution of the game. The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar, by its full name, has no Russian date set yet, but at least the deal is made.

"Our vision is to lead the growth of online games in Russia," said Igor Matsanyuk, President of IT Territory. "We believe that The Lord of the Rings Online is the perfect franchise for us to deliver to our audience as part of this strategy. Our partnership with Turbine underscores the tremendous success, attention to detail, and transparency that our operations bring to the best game developers in the world as they seek to enter the massive Russian market."

Except the fact that the Russian game market is growing really quickly, they seem to love massively multiplayer online games, both as developers (some Russian-only MMOs will start heading to the rest of the world) and as consumers (recently, the very popular World of Warcraft got a Russian team working for the game). And these might be solid reasons to give it a try with LOTR Online, too.

The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar allows players to discover their heroic destiny in the ongoing struggle for Middle-earth. Every monster, place and most of the people you'll meet during your gaming experience are, probably, no strangers to you, since you've already seen them in the movies. Players can choose a solo "career" or start their own online fellowships, while having only one goal in mind: to defend Middle-earth from the hideous monsters and minions of Sauron.
