The LOTR saga is far from being over

Following the great success recorded by the Hollywood blockbusters and all the games set in Tolkien's universe, it only seems natural to see every now and then a new Lord of the Rings title popping up. Gladly, game developers still have resources and unexplored areas in the universe, otherwise we'd get to see the same things over and over again. Or we're getting that already?

Anyway, one thing is clear: according to IGN, Pandemic is working on developing a game called The Lord of the Rings: Conquest, which will basically allow players to take part in any fight presented in the franchise and change its fate or just see how hard it really was. This means that epic battles will be soon present on Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles, as well as PC systems: from Sauron to the Balrog and mighty trolls, up to 150 characters on screen will prove to be a delight for the Lord of the Rings fans.

An interesting game mode has been highlighted for the upcoming Pandemic title, and that is the four screen campaign co-op mode, which should be really successful and a real joy if everything is developed as it should. Of course, if you don't like bringing three more friends at home for a LOTR game, you can also go online and test your strength against eight other players, or just walk through the campaigns with three other people.

"We'll freely admit that we're rabid fans of The Lord of the Rings fantasy," said to IGN Josh Resnick, co-founder and general manager at Pandemic Studios. "Our experience creating massive, rich, action-packed games means that The Lord of the Rings: Conquest will give fans exactly what they want: full control of the blade, bow and magic to fight its epic battles any way they want - even if they choose to play from the evil side."

A certain release date has not been revealed yet, but the game is expected to hit the stores sometime during this fall. A very well kept secret, we might say!
