Fans have been asking for a “Game of Thrones” movie ever since the TV series on HBO came out. The producers have declined to comment on the matter, but the general consensus was that such a project wouldn't get made any time soon. Now, for the first time, we are getting news that the “Game of Thrones” movie is being considered.

The news comes from one of the actors on the show, Charles Dance, more familiar to you as the ruthless Tywin Lannister, the powerhouse behind the entire Lannister family and the one who initiates many of the conflicts in the story.

Dead Tywin Lannister claims he won't be back for season five, confirms movie plans

Since Tywin met with a rather unfortunate and very embarrassing demise in the end of the fourth season of the series after Peter Dinklage, the actor playing his imp son Tyrion, shot him with a crossbow bolt while he was sitting on the toilet, Charles Dance is now no longer part of the cast.

In his interview with The Daily Beast, the actor promises that he won't be back for season five, apart from a brief scene where his body is displayed in the Sept for all to mourn. He jokes, “Well, only my body! I don’t wake up in the shower having had a dream about it all,” hinting at the famous scene in “Dallas,” where Bobby wakes up in the shower.

So far, the producers haven't decided which storyline they want to follow in the film

But what's more interesting is the part where he says that the producers are now “actively discussing” a movie adaptation of the show. “There's talk of eventually trying to do a feature film,” he says. “But I don't know which of the storylines. There's so much to cram into a film.”

Come to think about it, that's the only reason a movie hasn't yet been made about the fictional world of Westeros. The sheer bulk of George R.R. Martin's books means that there is no way to efficiently cut them up in 2-hour-long productions and give viewers a satisfying ending.

But it's nice to know that the producers are talking about the option, since it could mean the beginning of a lucrative franchise. The other big question would be if the TV actors would return on the big screen to play the characters we've come to love in the past years.

And just to whet you're appetite, keep in mind that the same producers of the show promised that for season 5 they would break their self-imposed rule of having no flashbacks on the series. That means that you could get to see Ned Stark aka Sean Bean come back to life or some other dearly departed character that lost their life in the bloody history of Westeros.
