Pretty soon, every camera will possess wireless support by default

The rise of social networking made it pretty much impossible for camera makers to not integrate web connection functionality into their devices.

Adding LAN support wasn't really practical. Ethernet cables aren't exactly found everywhere, and the hardware is pretty unruly as it is, even without putting the whole point-and-shoot thing on hold.

Wireless support is easier, since it only takes one small chip to implement and can pick up on any over-the-air networks, which are easier for people to connect to en masse.

Thus, cameras with Wi-Fi support have been made. They were almost unheard of earlier this year, but now they are taking the market by storm.

In fact, the Looxcie HD, a new camera that is now up for pre-order, can stream live video to Facebook at a resolution of 480p.

That doesn't mean it can't record anything of higher quality though. Everything up to Full HD is supported (1080p), but nothing above 480 can be streamed.

Go here for all the details, but be sure to have at least $279.99 ready if you mean to get one (215 – 279.99 Euro).
