Yesterday we wrote about Lian Li releasing a PC case with a hinged top/front panel, which allows the enclosure to open up half-way, and not in the usual way. Now, we're bringing you the PC-A79.

It would be a lie to say that the Lian Li PC-A79 is a “normal” PC case, though. True, compared to the company's other models, it is blessedly ordinary.

Take away that point of reference, however, and you are left with the realization that the case is not normal at all.

Certainly, it isn't the first model large enough to fit even E-ATX and XL-ATX motherboards, but those types of cases aren't numerous either.

That's right, the PC-A79, with its size of 230 x 618 x 596 mm / 9.0 x 24.3 x 23.4 inches, can hold HPTX, E-ATX, XL-ATX, ATX, and Micro-ATX motherboards without issue.

Other than the removable mainboard tray, the newcomer also possesses three HDD cages, each capable of holding three 3.5-inch HDDs/SSDs. In addition to that, there is space for right 2.5-inch drives as well.

All storage devices can be mounted toollessly, and benefit (at least the 3.5-inchers do) from 120 mm fans (one mounted on each cage). The fans are either towards the front of the case or behind it.

Another thing: dust is kept away by a dust filter on each individual 5.25" front bezels.

Add to that the removable panel that allows for easy installation of water cooler components 9240 mm radiators) and you have all bases covered.

That said, as far as graphics cards go, several of them can be installed at once, assuming the motherboard has enough slots. The maximum length is of 350 mm / 13.7 inches. As for CPU coolers, their top height can be of 145 mm / 5.7 inches.

Finally, the Lian Li PC-A79 boasts rear wheels, front feet, and a top I/O panel hidden by a stealth cover (four USB 3.0 ports, eSATA, HD audio). Sales will start next month (September 2013), maybe as early as next week, for $389 / €290.
