Sony seems to be really keen on improving its position on the HDTV market this year, as it keeps pumping out new and improved BRAVIA models on a very frequent basis. And the latest in the series is the V4000, which the company touts to be just the thing to install at the core of one's home cinema system.

First and foremost, it's very important to mention the fact that we're dealing with a very stylish LCD TV set here, inspired by Sony's innovative draw the LINE design concept. The device sports what one might call a rather minimalist design, but, as we all know only very well, sometimes less can be a lot more.

Leaving aside the external looks, the device from Sony also delivers quite a lot of advanced technical features as well. Thus, the V4000 is available in three different versions (40-inch, 46-inch and 52-inch models), all of which sport an integrated DVB-C/DVB-T tuner, as well as a 1080p Full HD LCD panel with an array of advanced signal processing technologies by Sony, as for example the latest-generation BRAVIA ENGINE 2 technology that gives images an enhanced level of richness and depth.

Additionally, the LCD panel offers a very high dynamic contrast ratio of 33000:1, ensuring deep, cinema-like blacks plus sparkling highlights. And since we're on the subject of cinema, it's also important to mention that the 24p True Cinema mode displays movies from Blu-ray Discs at the correct frame rate and thus the original speed, for an enhanced overall experience.

Furthermore, the devices in this series feature BRAVIA Sync technology that simplifies control of the complete home theater system using the TV's supplied remote at the touch of a button. The LCD TVs also sport three HDMI sockets that give extra flexibility, allowing one-cable connection to sources including PlayStation 3, Blu-ray Disc players and Handycam HD camcorders.

"The BRAVIA V4000 series represents a stunning synthesis of Sony's unmatched expertise in HD technology, user-friendly features and cutting-edge styling", says George Damigos, General Manager, Marketing, TV Operations Europe, Sony Europe. "The new V4000 series is a perfect answer for anyone who's looking to fill their living room with bigger, better Full HD pictures and sound. Best of all, it offers extraordinary value for anyone who's serious about creating a home cinema experience like no other."

Unfortunately, Sony has not provided any info regarding the pricing and availability of the new V4000 series, but we hope to find out more as soon as possible.
