Since summer is almost here – not that it really mattered after all – a new survey comes to tell all women that they can lose as much as 3kg by simply getting a tan. Granted, the weight does not go anywhere, but the study does indicate that a bronzed skin creates the impression of a much slimmer body, as the Daily Mail can confirm.

Consequently, women looking to appear thinner and get more compliments, plus attract more attention, might as well consider the option of getting a fake spray tan. As the survey indicates, women not only are perceived as better looking if they have that bronzed glow about them, but they are also more confident – to the point where they actually believe clothes suit them better, the same clothes they also wore yesterday.

According to the survey, conducted by Fake Bake as highlighter for the Save Your Skin campaign, approximately 50 percent of the women queried said they got more compliments from their partners when they were tanned as opposed to before, about 60 percent revealed they also felt slimmer with a tan, while a reassuring 75 percent admitted to being afraid of Sun damage and choosing a fake spray-on tan instead of a sunbed or the real deal.

“The start of summer always makes women feel more self-conscious about their figures as naturally there is always more flesh on show. Yet the results of the research go to show just how easily you can shave off a few pounds without even going on a diet. By using fake tan women can safely add color to their skin to give them the confidence they need to step out in summer clothes or put on a bikini to head to the beach. And the deeper the tan the thinner it seems to make women feel. More importantly it means a summer glow can be achieved without the lethal and fatal effects of over exposure to the sun or excessive sunbed use.” Sandra McClumpha, CEO of Fake Bake, tells the Mail about the findings of the study.

The conclusions of the survey should by no means encourage women to hit the first tanning salon they come across for a couple of minutes on the sunbed, the CEO further underlines. Natural exposure to sunlight is also highly not recommended because it can cause irreversible damage. Moreover, in the context in which the number of skin cancer cases is increasing by the day, women are strongly advised to use fake spray-on tan to get the bronzed, slimmer look before anything else.

“Our culture of sun worship together with the advent of cheap flights abroad has left us all more exposed to the danger of the sun than previous generations. But what is a problem for some of us now, may soon be widespread amongst our children if action is not taken to turn back this trend.” Rachel Haywood of leading skincare charity RAFT, which works closely with Fake Bake on the Save Your Skin campaign, says for the same publication.
