Starbreeze Studios is still quite satisfied with the result, however

Starbreeze Studios, the developer of the upcoming Syndicate first person shooter, has confirmed that, although the game is quite impressive, a longer development time would have made the whole experience that much more satisfying.

Electronic Arts and Starbreeze surprised lots of old school gamers with the announcement that the classic Syndicate series is going to be reimagined as a first person shooter.

As we’ve seen after the official reveal, the game is looking pretty interesting, and the recent demo, which focused on the four-player cooperative mode, was impressive, even if it didn’t really have a proper tutorial.

Now, ahead of the game’s release at the end of the month, Starbreeze’s lead co-op programmer, Lars Magnus Lang, talked with CVG about the development and how he would’ve wanted more time to really make the best experience possible.

“Let me put it this way,” Lang said about the final version of the game, “I'm really proud of the end result, but I'm not super satisfied. I want to have been able to have done more, but that's always the feeling you get.”

Lang admits that, unless clear time frames are set, a game’s development could last for quite some time.

“Unless someone says, okay, enough, we need to ship it, development will go on and on forever more or less or until everyone gets bored with it. It's been a long production: it's good to finally ship it, but at the same time, you always think, if we could have had half a year more, we could have done even more.”

Lang assures gamers, however, that Starbreeze wants to support the new Syndicate, and even mentions that feedback from the multiplayer demo will be collected in order to improve the experience.

“To some extent we'll be able to tweak certain things,” Lang said about the demo. “We'll definitely be keeping an eye on reactions.”

Syndicate is out for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on February 21, in North America, and February 24, in Europe.
