Greg Kroah-Hartman has announced the immediate availability for download of Linux kernel 3.10.22, which integrates quite a few changes and improvements.

The new maintenance version of the 3.10.22 branch has been released and, just like the previous build, a lot of commits have been implemented.

As usual, these point release versions of the Linux kernel don't bring anything major and are mostly comprised of driver updates and various fixes. This should not stop you from upgrading to the new build.

It seems that retiring the 3.11.x branch has pushed developers to focus more on the 3.10.x branch. This would explain this flurry of changes, which is quite usual for a point release in a long-term support version.

“I'm announcing the release of the 3.10.22 kernel. All users of the 3.10 kernel series must upgrade.”

“The updated 3.10.y git tree can be found at: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git linux-3.10.y and can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git,” Greg Kroah-Hartman said in the email announcement.

Highlights of Linux kernel 3.10.22:

• Avoid overflow in hibernate_preallocate_memory (PM / hibernate); • Don't attempt to update ptes if ib allocation fails (drm/radeon/vm); • The correct packet length for packets from SDIO interface is now provided (mwifiex); • A post SYSCLK register patch for rev D chip has been added (AsoC); • UVD clocks are now activated before sending the destroy msg (drm/radeon); • Use hw generated CTS/N values for audio (drm/radeon); • The display of sata speed has been fixed (libata); • A kernel bug due to racing DMA operations has been fixed (mtd: gpmi); • Support has been added for the ALC231 codec.

Users of the Linux kernel 3.10.x branch are urged to update to the new version as soon as possible. More details about the changes in this branch of the kernel can be found in the official announcement. Download Linux Kernel 3.10.22 right now from Softpedia.
