Greg Kroah-Hartman has announced the immediate availability for download of Linux kernel 3.10.21, which integrates quite a few changes and improvements.

The new maintenance version of the 3.10.21 branch has been released and a lot of commits have been implemented, although it's nothing major.

As usual, these point release versions of the Linux kernel don't bring anything major and are mostly comprised of driver updates and various fixes. This should not stop you from upgrading to the new version.

“I'm announcing the release of the 3.10.21 kernel. All users of the 3.10 kernel series must upgrade.”

“The updated 3.10.y git tree can be found at: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git linux-3.10.y and can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git,” Greg Kroah-Hartman said in the email announcement.

Highlights of Linux kernel 3.10.21:

• A build breakage for the MPC5200 LPBFIFO module has been fixed (powerpc/52xx); • The EKEYEXPIRED access to EACCES is no longer remapped in call_refreshresult; • The ppc64 address space has been capped at 32TB and the mmap randomization has been disabled; • PCIe Capability link-related register access has been allowed for switches; • The PCIe Capability version checks have been removed; • The FieldUnit and BufferField refs have been resolved; • A return error is now provided if DerefOf resolves to a null package element; • A fix for Store->ArgX, when ArgX contains a reference to a field, has been implemented; • Phantom LVDS on the Intel's D510MO mainboard have been corrected; • Make sure mute LEDs stay on during runtime suspend (Realtek); • A headset quirk for Dell Inspiron 3135 has been fixed.

Users of the Linux kernel 3.10.x branch are urged to update to the new version as soon as possible. More details about the changes in this branch of the kernel can be found in the official announcement. Download Linux Kernel 3.10.21 right now from Softpedia.
