Back from the often-dreaded ‘80s, pink eyeshadow is making a raging comeback this spring and the following summer, stylists are saying. The first signs of the pink invasion coming our way have already appeared, with models at the London Fashion Week all donning it in one shade or another. We might as well prepare to see it more often, the same stylists have it.

Pink eyeshadow has always been a bit problematic, just as much as it is cool and funky. Either in softer tones or in more daring fuchsia shades, pink is not for everyone – the complexion, hairstyle and, ultimately, the clothes that the woman in question wears make of pink eyeshadow a very exclusive trend. Nevertheless, that does not mean we shouldn’t try it at the very least to see if it works for us too, beauticians and beauty magazines alike recommend.

Speaking of the first signs of the pink invasion, PopSugar informs that renowned designer Paul Costelloe has already had all his models donning this specific eyeshadow for his London Fashion Week show. Moreover, huge brands such as Lancome and Nars have already included different pinks in their spring 2009 collections, anticipating the trend even before industry insiders got to acknowledge its imminent arrival. This is good news for customers, though, since they now have more options to choose from, it has been pointed out.

As noted above, stylists maintain that pink is among the toughest colors to pull off for an eyeshadow. If not applied correctly, or if the aforementioned criteria are not met (complexion, hair and style), then the final result can be anything from clownish to downright embarrassing, which is precisely why they often argue that it takes “training” to make it work. “Training” means, of course, going the trial-and-error way until we find just the shade and the combination (eyeliner, lipstick, foundation) that looks perfect on us.

This being said, and given the many options that are already available, there is nothing stopping us from choosing to be funky, bold and trendy this season – in the hottest shades of pink.
