Logitech has announced that its flagship HD Pro Webcam C910 is now Mac-compatible, which allows users to make HD video calls and Full HD video recordings on a Macintosh computer. The webcam is plug-and-play ready with iChat, Photo Booth, and FaceTime, the Swiss peripheral maker said today.

The newest Logitech HD webcam is also plug-and-play ready with the latest Logitech software for Macs, enabling Mac users to experience Full HD 1080p video recording and one-click uploading to Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.

Users also benefit from seamless integration with the editing and management functions of iPhoto and iMovie, Logitech said.

Mac users can now enjoy the fast, free and easy-to-use Logitech Vid HD for Mac, for dazzling video calls in HD 720p, the company added.

“Today we’re excited to bring Mac fans the first webcam to deliver HD 720p video calling and Full HD 1080p video recording,” said Eric Kintz, vice president and general manager of Logitech’s video business.

“In addition to offering the highest level of video quality in the top-of-the-line C910 webcam and the plug-and-play ease with a variety of Mac applications, the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 is now available with software that’s designed especially for the Mac,” added Kintz.

In addition to being compatible with all major video-calling clients, among which Logitech mentions Apple’s FaceTime, iChat and Photo Booth applications, the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 is very easy to set up, the vendor claims.

“There’s no need to purchase additional hardware — simply plug in the webcam and you’ll be ready to make video calls on iChat and Face Time — as well as use the C910 webcam with Photo Booth and even QuickTime,” Logitech explains.

Also noteworthy is that Logitech’s HD Pro Webcam C910 can make 10-megapixel photos which far exceeds the capabilities of a Mac’s built-in iSight camera.

Since it’s compatible with iPhoto, users can do some quick editing right before posting their pictures to Facebook, Logitech said.

Available in the U.S., Europe and Asia, the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 goes for $99.99 (U.S.).

Logitech webcam software for Mac, the company's newest webcam release, delivers support specifically for the HD Pro C910.

The software includes Logitech Vid HD, the free tool for making video calls with the Logitech webcam.

this article is misleading because it's not possible to get 720p resolution, the highest supported is 480p, unless you use Logitech Webcam Software. This has something to do with it being not possible with the UVC drivers.
