iPod-mania became profitable not just for Apple and iTunes, but also for plenty of companies getting involved in developing accessories for the renowned MP3 player.
Starting at cases and ending with headsets, iPOD accessories slowly but steady began building a true industry.
Logitech joined this manufacturer team and released in CeBIT 2005 a portable 2.0 speakers set, specially designed for iPOD.
The system,
also known by the code name m22, was designed by Logitech because the company considered that iPOD users should be able to enjoy music with friends. Or at least this is what the Logitech marketing department claims.
Although the design clearly suggests the Logitech interest in the iPOD market (the speakers are fixed on a support with a niche fitting any iPOD), the system can actually be connected to any 3.5 mm stereo input-enabled device.
The pricing recommended by Logitech for this sound system is $79,99, quite low as compared to other iPOD speakers; the capabilities provided might however be too scarce for such amount.
The JBL On Stage iPod system for instance has a more pleasant design, includes a battery charger and costs around $140. Altec Lansing suggests the InMotion speakers, also integrating a charger for an average $120 price.
m22 by Logitech is delivered with a protective case including besides the power source (100-240V), 2 cables for iPOD / laptop connectivity, and having enough free space for an iPOD or another speaker system.
