Logitech debuts new wireless MK710 desktop kit

Logitech, a name that stands out as one of the main brands in the computer peripheral market, has recently announced a new Wireless Desktop kit, coming to provide consumers with a choice for a high-quality keyboard and mouse. The comfortable keyboard has been fitted with the company's own Unifying technology, which enables users to pair both mouse and keyboard to the same wireless receiver, saving an additional USB slot. In addition, according to the Fremont, California-based company, the Wireless Desktop MK710 kit can deliver an impressive three years of battery life.

“No one thinks about changing batteries until they have to, but when that time comes, it can stop you in your tracks,” said Rory Dooley, Logitech’s senior vice president and general manager of the Control Devices business unit. “With its industry-first three-year battery life for a combo, you might just forget the Logitech Wireless Desktop MK710 uses batteries at all.”

One of the main features of the new kit is that it makes use of the proprietary Unifying technology, which the company introduced back in August 2009 and has already enabled on a couple of products. This enables users to connect both the Unifying-compatible keyboard and mouse to the computer, via a single wireless receiver. The desktop MK710 kit will allow users to save one of their USB ports, which would have otherwise been occupied by an additional wireless receiver.

Aside from that, the new wireless desktop kit offers a noteworthy reduction of the battery power consumption, enabling consumers to use the mouse and keyboard for about three years, without having to change the batteries. In addition, the keyboard comes featured with a cushioned palm rest, Incurve keys with a concave design, a built-in LCD dashboard with status updates regarding Caps Lock, Scroll Lock, Num Lock and battery life.

The Wireless Desktop MK710 will be available in Europe, starting this month, with users in the US getting it in April for a price tag of US$100.
