ChillStream controller launched

Logitech has launched the ChillStream - Logitech's new gamepad - that is its first product designed with the idea that it will support Sony's Playstation 3. It brings a built-in 40mm fan to keep the player cool around the hands while he or she is playing, but it can also be turned off for those who just want to use the controller for what it is.

The ChillStream technology helps keeping your hands cool, and you can choose between three speed settings, and based on that, the ventilation force on the integrated fan. The unit also has soft rubber grips and high-performance analogue sticks and triggers.

It seems the recommended price will be $39.99 and Logitech ChillStream will be launched in Asia and America first of all, and eventually in Europe (people hope it's on the waiting list). At the same time, Logitech has announced that many of its current accessories will be compatible with Playstation 3; Logitech Driving Force Pro, Logitech Driving Force EX or Logitech USB headset.

Other gamepads from Logitech (designed for SP2) are part of Logitech (Cordless) Action and Logitech (Cordless) Precision series. The cordless versions can work up until 10 meters away. Also, there are some mouse-compatible games, for which the guys from Logitech have designed a PS compatible optical mouse.

You can also use the gamepad with a PC, and here are the requirements: Windows 2000, XP or Vista, and an available USB port. Not much, is it? The package contains the ChillStream controller and the user guide. Again, nothing heavy. The only thing that adds some weight is the 2 year warranty, a thing that it's always to my liking.
