Though headsets of any kind are usually aimed at personal computers, Logitech stepped out of the norm in this one case and, instead of bringing out a new headset for PCs, made one that is optimized for consoles, TVs and DVD players, among other things.

Logitech has already released a fair number of headphones over the past few months, but it doesn't seem to be done just yet,.

In fact, it took a break from making new PC peripherals in order to address the needs of the consumer electronic and console markets.

Thus it came to pass that the Wireless Headset F540 was optimized and made possible to connect to TV sets, DVD players and consoles.

All the audio controls are integrated into the headset itself, the list including independent voice and game volume levels, microphone mute, and an input selector.

The input selector allows one to choose which connected audio source to listen to without having to move close to it.

The headset uses 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity and has batteries that can last for up to 10 hours before having to be recharged.

"We set out to build a great wireless headset for people who like to play at night, but need to keep it quiet so they don't disturb anyone trying to sleep," said Elliott Chin, Logitech's senior manager of product marketing for gaming.

"The result is an amazing audio experience for console gamers, no matter when they like to play. The Logitech Wireless Headset F540 delivers superior sound coupled with voice chat and does it all without a single cable running between you and your console," he added.

Set to start shipping in the US sometime next month, the Wireless Headset F540 will have a price tag of $150. November is when Europe will welcome it, through an official price for that region has yet to be mentioned.
