Offering details on its line of Google TV products is not all that Logitech is up to, as is shown by the Lapdesk N550, a new accessory that meets two goals at once, that of acting as a heat shield and of delivering high-quality sound via two speakers.

The Speaker Lapdesk N550 is a follow-up on the Speaker Lapdesk N700, which accommodates mobile PCs with screen sizes of up to 16 inches.

This new product, on the other hand, can support laptops of up to 14.1 inches and provides passive cooling thanks to its four-layer, heat-shielding design.

The Lapdesk N550 employs a soft, air-mesh fabric, which also makes sure that consumers benefit from a high level of comfort.

What's more, it boasts foldable bumpers, to keep the laptop in place, and a pair of speakers that use the USB interface to connect to the notebook or netbook one happens to be using.

"Lapdesks are the unsung heroes of the laptop and netbook world," said Denis Pavillard, vice president of product marketing for laptop accessories.

"The Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N550 solves the two complaints people most often report about their laptops and netbooks - poor audio quality and laptop heat,” he added.

“Using this one product can dramatically improve the experience people have with their laptops," Pavillard went on to saying.

The Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N550 even comes with an angled base, which raises the laptop to a comfortable viewing position.

“Logitech's newest lapdesk is also easy to use. There's no software to install - you simply plug a single cable into your laptop or netbook USB port to power the speakers,” states the official press release.

The PC accessory maker will start shipping this product, in Europe at least, in January 2011, for a price of £49.99.
