Logitech, one of the leading manufacturers of computer peripherals, has announced today three new keyboards, including one that has been suggestively dubbed “Illuminated Keyboard.” The other two are the new diNovo Keyboard for Notebooks, and a new combo with the Logitech Cordless Desktop S520. The new products will be available for purchase later this year.

“Style – specifically the ability to choose the style that fits one’s tastes – is increasingly driving purchase decisions,” said Denis Pavillard, vice president of product marketing for Logitech keyboards and desktops. “Our three newest keyboards address this trend, as well as various usage scenarios, from working in low light to being more comfortable when working on a laptop.”

The new Illuminated Keyboard is one of the best examples of the company's new strategy in designing its products. It has been built to optimize typing for users working both under normal light conditions and in dim-lit environments. The company combined microlens reflectors, a multilayer painting process and laser etching to create a “better backlit experience that is brighter, sharper and easier to read.” Furthermore, the new keyboard features an ultra-thin design, measuring only 9.3 mm base to frame, and making this the company's thinnest keyboard to date.

The new Logitech diNovo Keyboard for Notebooks follows the company's successful diNovo Edge keyboard, thus providing support for those notebook users who prefer to use a standard keyboard instead of their notebook's. The new diNovo Keyboard for Notebooks can be connected to a user's portable computer system with one of the company's Alto notebook stands, thus enabling a comfortable typing experience, as it protects the user from laptop-generated heat. The keyboard is also impressively thin, with only 22.10 mm from base to key caps.

Both Logitech products, the Illuminated Keyboard and the diNovo Keyboard for Notebooks, feature the company's PerfectStroke Key System, a design technology that improves the user's typing experience, making it more comfortable, fluid and silent.

The new Logitech Cordless S520 combo can provide the user with both a keyboard and a mouse that come with a battery life of approximately 8 months for the mouse and 15 months for the keyboard.

Regarding pricing and availability, the new Logitech Illuminated Keyboard and the Logitech diNovo Keyboard for Notebooks are expected to become available in the US and Europe in October, for a suggested price tag of US$79.99 and US$99.99, respectively. The Logitech Cordless Desktop S520 will be made available worldwide later this month for a MSRP of US$59.99.
