A brand new mouse for mobile users

Logitech just announced the release of a new mouse model aimed at the mobile user segment of the mouse market. The VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse is an adaptation of an earlier model named VX Revolution mouse. The VX Nano features a plug and forget nano-sized receiver that provides maximum mobility for PC laptop and MacBook users as it is very small in size and it is no longer required to unplug it when the job is done.

"More and more laptop users are abandoning the touch pad in favor of a cordless notebook mouse," said Rory Dooley, Logitech senior vice president and general manager of the Control Devices business unit. "However, with most notebook mice, the size of the receiver forces people to plug and unplug the receiver each time they use the laptop. Because we were able to make the nano-receiver so small, it can remain plugged into the laptop at all times so on-the-go notebook users save valuable time and never have to worry about where the receiver is."

The transmitter unit is barely larger than its USB plug, thus eliminating the hassle of carrying a separate RF adapter that needs to be unplugged when not in use, as it sticks out only 8mm against the laptop case, eliminating the danger of damaging the receiver of the host laptop when transported in a bag.

Just like its larger siblings, the VX Nano sports a laser tracking device, forward and back shortcuts for skipping through websites, and a search button for queuing web results from highlighted text on a page. Featuring the MicroGear Precision Scroll Wheel, this mouse is a truly versatile one as its wheel in hyper-fast scrolling mode can be used to cycle through long documents with the flick of a finger.

Power is drawn from a pair of AAA sized batteries that will provide for the mouse for up to six months in normal use conditions. According to Logitech, the VX Nano will start shipping in late August with both Mac and Microsoft Windows support for a price of $70.
