Logitech announced today the introduction of the Logitech Comfort Lapdesk for Notebooks, added to the company's lineup of notebook accessories, meant to offer users both mobility and comfort while operating their laptops. The new Comfort Lapdesk offers both a stable base and more protection against heat, no matter whether the user is working on the couch, bed or on the living-room floor.

“While other lapdesks promise improved comfort, they often fall short because of poor design and low-quality materials,” said Denis Pavillard, Logitech’s vice president of product marketing for keyboards and desktops. “The new Logitech lapdesk has a thoughtful design that will help make your laptop experience more comfortable, wherever you use your computer.”

The Comfort Lapdesk comes with a four-layer, heat-shielding design. The heat is minimized by the device due to the fabric of its bottom-layer and an air-flow chamber placed between the lapdesk’s base and top. Moreover, the laptop does not lie flat against the body, as the arched base touches the legs in just four places, thus improving air flow.

People are also able to relax their legs since the cushioned base offers a stable foundation for comfortable laptop use. Users do not need to lock the knees together to support the computer, as it is being prevented from sliding by a non-slip glossy finish on the top of the lapdesk. The notebook's position is also adjusted at a height that supports neck and leg comfort through a 12-degree angled riser. In addition, the lapdesk has a thin, streamlined profile that allows it to be easily slid under a couch or bed, or it can stand upright next to the sofa.

According to a study conducted by Logitech's researchers, around 60 percent of people use their laptop at home on the couch, which allows them to be with their family while browsing the Web, e-mailing or chatting. The same study revealed the fact that about 36 percent of the people questioned use the laptop in bed, while 16 percent use it when sitting on the floor. As the study reveals, 50 percent of the users are rather concerned with the heat generated by the notebook, while 41 percent would be interested in the posture. Some of them would use different objects to provide a barrier to the heat emitted from the laptop, such as pillows, yet these solutions often turn the machine hotter. This way, the new Logitech Comfort Lapdesk proves to be a better solution for people using their laptops at home.
