With the Logitech EasyCall Desktop suite

It's already quite clear that VoIP telephony represents the future of telecommunications as we know them, and that's one of the reasons why more and more companies start developing all sorts of devices especially for this popular technology. And that's also the case with Logitech, which has just announced the Logitech EasyCall Desktop, a suite of devices aimed especially at those computer users hooked up on Internet telephony.

Well, this suite doesn't really bring anything innovative or new (all the devices were, more or less, already available, but not interconnected), but it does offer the advantage of a fully integrated and high quality solution. Thus, the EasyCall Desktop is, according to the company's statement, the "world's first combination of a mouse, keyboard, headset and speakerphone", and offers very simple and rapid access to both VoIP services (such as Skype) and IM clients (such as Yahoo! Messenger and AOL's AIM).

This very useful desktop suite includes a stylish cordless keyboard (which offers one-touch access to applications such as e-mail and a Web browser, and a media panel for digital music) and a laser cordless mouse, but also a full-duplex speakerphone which includes Logitech's RightSound technology that eliminates echoes for clear headset-free Internet phone calls. The speakerphone actually represents some sort of communications control center, since in includes volume controls, as well as call pick-up and hang-up buttons, which make Internet calls a lot easier. Moreover, the EasyCall Desktop includes a stereo headset that can be plugged into a convenient port on the speakerphone when privacy is important.

As mentioned in the beginning, these products, taken separately, are nothing new (or impressive, for that matter), but it seems that Logitech has managed to do a pretty good job in making them work together. The Logitech EasyCall Desktop will be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in mid-September, and the suggested retail price is around 130 dollars.
