There are maybe two kinds of people in the world, those who simply love laptops, notebooks and all the avatars of mobile computing and those who consider that the real computer must reside on a desk and come with a fully functional keyboard and mouse and not only a smaller version of them.

For the
second kind of users, who may have the mischance and need to use a mobile computing system like a notebook at work or in some other circumstances, the computer peripherals manufacturing company Logitech decided to design and built a new laptop stand or docking station. The advantages of using such a docking station become apparent when we see that the Alto line of stations can expand the notebook's functionality in two areas most important for users.

The Logitech's Alto docking station is designed to make a laptop screen easier to see and extend the limited functionality of its keyboard and touchpad by using a full size keyboard equipped with wireless technology in order to eliminate the clutter of cables that plague most computer users. Just like the original Alto model, the new docking station does not come with a mouse but it does integrate three USB ports so there is the basic supporting layer for an additional mouse.

Apart from the extended input functionality, the new Alto station offers the possibility to elevate the laptop to a more comfortable angle for a better viewing experience, but at the same time it is not recommended to use it with laptops that are equipped with screens larger than 15.4 inches. According to some sources, the new Alto docking station for laptops and notebooks from Logitech will have a price tag of around $100 with the option to purchase an additional power adapter unit that costs $20 for those users that are in need of high powered USB ports.

A question please. Does the docking station hook up to the electricity socket? I would like to recharge my lap top via the station.

Thx,

Dan
