Have you seen the movie "Click" with Adam Sandler, in which he gets a universal remote that ends up ruining his life? Well, it seems that the people from Logitech were big fans of this comedy, since they've created something that kinda resembles the remote from the movie (from the point of view of the available functions, that is), namely the Logitech Harmony 1000 Universal Remote Control. Well, leaving the joke aside, this device is really quite impressive, since it's able to control a wide range of devices, from HDTV sets to DVD players to...HVAC systems or even the lights, since the device is compatible with over 5,000 brands and 175,000 devices. The remote control is quite easy to use, since all the functions are accessed via the 3.5" color touch screen, and it has quite a wide range of operation (up to 30 meters, if used together with the Harmony RF Wireless Extender). Moreover, it is also capable of controlling equipments placed out of sight, since it can transmit both infrared and radio frequency commands. The Harmony 1000 features a sleek shape and brushed aluminum look, is capable of controlling up to 15 different devices at a time, and sports an internal, rechargeable, Lithium-ion battery, which grants it quite a long battery life. It is also able to connect via USB to a computer and access the online database of device control codes. The Logitech Harmony 1000 Universal Remote Control has a recommended price of 500 dollars, and will hit the stores in the last quarter of 2006.
