Logitec, the Japanese storage device developer and not the Swiss maker of peripherals (that's Logitech), has revealed three portable DVD drives.

Though ultrabooks have been selling poorly, they, like certain other types of notebooks, have been encouraging sales of optical disk drives, since they do not have their own.

Thus, three new USB-connected DVD drives aren't overkill.

The names of the USB-connected newcomers are, in true Japanese fashion, hard to remember: LDR-PMF8U3L, LDR-PMF8U2V and LDV-PA8U2VBK.

The first one, a DVD writer, is sold with a license to Nero Kwik Burn Express Essentials, for 5,250 JPY (US $66.8 / 51.58 Euro).

The second one is packed with one to Nero 12 Essentials, but is otherwise identical to the first, except for the USB interface (2.0 instead of 3.0). Its price is 4,935 JPY ($62.7 / 48.48 Euro).

Third and last, the product is a DVD-ROM drive with a license to Nero Kwik Media + Kiwi DVD. It is priced at 4,725 JPY ($60 / 46.42 Euro).
