Logitech Advanced Peripherals Concept

Now, I guess you'll agree with me that Logitech has become one of the major players in multimedia hardware during the last years, an extremely tough rival if not even the leader of such merchandise. Having attained this position, it was time for some concept-innovations which would let aside for a moment the strict immediate functionality of their usual products: the Z-10 sound system is the living proof that technical imagination and graphic design make a very good team inside Logitech.

In fewer words, the Logitech Z-10 series look different and are to be operated in a different way. Aside the usual loudspeaker array in a desktop sound system, the Logitech Z-10 has 2 things which make it cooler than cool: one thing is the playback control panel with whose help you can easily control iTunes, Windows Media Player or the MusicMatch JukeBox. Play, pause, next, previous, bass, treble and of course, volume are controllable directly from the right speaker dedicated touch-sensitive panel.

The second thing that makes the Logitech Z-10 stand out in the crowd is the very cool black display with orange light elements. The LCD will actually display a lot more data than you'd expect: extensive track information (artist and song title), elapsed and total display, clock and date, they all are made to create a rich and satisfying experience.

The Logitech Z-10 is capable of pumping out 30W RMS which is by far more than enough on your desktop. The integrated crossover of the sound system makes sure the frequencies of the signal you're playing are evenly and correctly distributed between the woofers and the tweeters as the Logitech Z-10 is a 2-way, bi-amped sound system. It comes with both loudspeaker cables as well as USB cable and a 3.5mm auxiliary stereo cable so the connectivity is not a matter of concern. Headphones can be easily attached to the Logitech Z-10 so you can enjoy your music without hindering persons in the same room.

Finally, the black and orange LCD uses its own software which is the same as the G15 keyboard but whose installation has been customized. The software management will install various applications with user-customized options and they will "rotate" on the small display at a rate the user has also specified. Funny and cool thing is that these applications include the clock and date... with POP3 mail checker Outlook-integrated, stopwatch, CPU parameters-surveillance and memory statistics. And the playback command buttons, that is! Now, I can't really tell whether you'll be checking your mail on the speakers but it's definitely fun to be able to do so... Nice job, Logitech, really nice job!
