Avira proudly announced today that users of its Mobile Security iOS app can download and install a new version to add a few new things, such as a call-devices feature, UI improvements, new language support, and bug fixes.

“Because of the growth of mobile commerce and the need to keep users safe as they increasingly use mobile devices, security expert Avira announced today that it has significantly upgraded its free Avira Mobile Security for iOS app with two new features: Identity Safeguard and Locate Device,” the company says.

In what sounds like a new version of Find My iPhone, up to five devices can be tracked using the latter (both iOS and Android). Premium Avira Antivirus Security Pro users get safe browsing, hourly updates and quick support access, as part of their paid service.

The browsing update blocks infectious websites with real time URL monitoring technology (to thwart phishing attacks and such), hourly updates keeps the device safe with frequent updates, and a quick support means “Avira experts are just a call or a click away.”

New languages are supported, including English, Bokmål, Norwegian, Catalan, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Traditional Chinese, and Turkish.

Identity Safeguard ensures that your personal email was not caught in security breaches, and further allows you to see if your identity has been leaked in any such breaches. An on-demand scanner allows you to scan their entire address book and detect any compromised buddies.

“If any contacts have been compromised, users can email any breached contacts directly to alert them about the danger. On average, between 5% and 10% of a typical user's address book contains email addresses that have been compromised,” says Avira.

Leon Crutchley, mobile products manager for Avira, said, “With our free app for iOS users, Avira has changed the paradigm for iOS security. Not only can users ensure that their identity has not been compromised, but they can check all the people in their contacts to find out if their email address have been compromised as well. Add in the ability to locate multiple iOS and Android devices in real-time from your iPhone, and you’ve got a new definition of security for iOS.”

You can download Avira Mobile Security on any iPhone, iPad, or iPod running iOS 7.0 or later. On the Android side, version 2.2 (Froyo) is required.
